After visiting his first escape room, David Watermeier fell in love. David found this fairly new form of entertainment much more fun and memorable than the video games that he had been playing throughout his life. Yet, after being disappointed with a few rooms, David believed he could provide a better experience with fulfilling puzzles leading to a more satisfying grand finale. And so, David sought to create his own “favorite” escape room.

With only $100 left from a retirement fund he had saved during his four years of service as a medic in the Army, David opened Escape Room Era’s doors on February 10, 2017. He crossed his fingers and hoped for the best. Thankfully, the two rooms he created, Ben Franklin’s Invention Room and The Overgrown, have both provided great entertainment value to thousands of escape room enthusiasts who leave excitedly chatting about their truly immersive experience. On December 1, 2019, David and Escape Room Era will proudly open an eagerly awaited new room, Christmas at Franklin’s, which will surely bring smiles and joy to all who play.
